Writing Articles: Staying Organized

As many of my readers know, I've started writing articles online. I really love it, and it was becoming such a passion of mine, it was starting to take over my life. I've had to come up with a system for organizing my writing time and get it under control. It's helped a lot with saving time and keeping my sanity!

Backlinking-Building traffic.

Inbound links, also called backlinks, are extremely important for a good search engine optimization (SEO) rank and placement.

So, why don't I just exchange links with other sites to build my reputation?
Because exchanging links with another site is now frowned upon by Google. Anyone can just exchange links, but to get an inbound link from another like site holds greater importance. It shows that sites that are the same topic as yours think that your site is important enough to recommend your site to other readers. Google thinks, well if they think this site is important, then so do we. Boom- your site moves up in rank thus, more traffic for you.
I must stress, though, that you stick with sites that are the same topic as yours.

How do I convince someone to give me a backlink?
Create more then one site or blog with a similar topic and then approach someone and ask if you can do a "three-way" exchange. Meaning, you can put their url on ONE of your sites, and they put your OTHER url on theirs. Backlinking groups can work too by getting together with several sites and making sure that the same two sites don't exchange with each other.

Another popular way of getting back links, is by writing articles and submitting them to a variety of different article directories. Most of these article directories will allow you to include a link in the bio line of the article back to your website, at times two or more links. This is an excellent way for you to attract the attention of the search engines and they can certainly help you to rise to the rankings. This is more of a beginning of link gathering, however, then the end.

Joining social networks can help build inbound links by following and commenting on other blogs. Social traffic can be important to build traffic just as well as "flyby" traffic for those who are looking to monetize their site or blog.

Backlinking doesn't have to be a hard or complicated step. Just do it slowly and in time, your blog will be a PR3 or even a 5!

3. Subscribe to work at home ezines and post your resume at telecommuting and freelancing forums. Often, if someone is outsourcing projects, the need for additional work will surface. It may land you a permanent position with them.
4. Polish your skills -if they're rusty or you feel out of touch with today's technology, take the time to bring yourself up to par. The Internet is loaded with no-cost online training sites where you can learn the latest software at your own pace.
5. Your resume needs to be top quality. Make sure you shine over the thousands of other applicants. Most jobs get at least 4000 applicants!
